Day 15
God delights more with obedience rather than sacrifices
A person returning home by bike met with an accident. He hit a parapet and fell off a cliff. Fortunately, in the dark he was able to catch a creeper and hang on to it. While hanging, he prayed to God to save him. At this moment, Lord told him to release the creeper so that He could hold him from below. The man thought for a while and began to pray the same prayer again, his prayer continued till morning, when he finally began to see something below. And he was surprised, that the road was just two feet below him. I wish he had heard the voice of God and obeyed him! We must remember that God loves complete obedience from His disciples. Jesus' disciples were ready to obey no matter how difficult the tasks was. Jesus calls for an obedient disciple among us as well.
The first king of Israel, Saul, was anointed by God and became powerful over his neighboring kingdoms. But as he became more powerful, he started turning away from God. In one such battle with the Amalekites, God told him to destroy everything (1 Samuel 15:3). But instead, Saul captured their king and took their best cattle. When Samuel came and inquired about him, Saul said to him that he had kept the cattle, to offer it as sacrifices to God. At this Lord's anger flared up on him, and God told him, through Samuel, that he delights more with obedience rather than sacrifices. (1 Samuel 15:22).
