Tuned with Him

Daily Morning devotion

Day 16

Tuned with Him

When Barnabas was sent by the Jerusalem Church to strengthen the believers in Antioch, he encouraged them to remain faithful to the Lord. He was a man whose specialty and characteristic is represented by his name i.e. the son of encouragement. First, he encouraged Saul to be accepted among the disciples in Jerusalem. Second, here in this passage we read that when he was sent by the church in Jerusalem, he exhorted them to be faithful towards The Lord. It says in verse 24 that 'because he was a good man filled with the Holy Spirit...' he was an encourager in his practical life. He was a man filled with the full of Holy Spirit.

The life of Barnabas was the best example because being filled with the Holy Spirit did not describe a single experience but the general characteristics of his life. He was in tune with God every day. He was sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, he was successful in whatever he did. Those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior have the Holy Spirit. Let us be in tune with Him and receive His fullness every day.
