Day 14
Filled with Holy Spirit
At the huge congregation, One renowned speaker grabbed a glass and gave an example and asked, "How can I remove air from this glass?" One man shouted, "Suck it with the pump!" The speaker replied, "It will create a vacuum and break the glass." After receiving several suggestions, the speaker smiled, picked up a pot of water and filled the glass. "There," he said, "now all the air has been removed," he then explained that victory in the Christian life is not achieved by "sucking up a sin here and there," but by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Here in this passage Paul is urging believers not to get drunk, but to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18-20)
When Paul says, "Don't be drunk with wine," the main issue here is not so much over the intoxication, but the concept of leaving behind a life of darkness which Christians had been once engulfed in. Unlike the wine presented here is being filled with the Holy Spirit. Let us work hard to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Spirit filling is an everyday process and will help us to become more like Jesus Christ in all our works and deeds. Therefore, let us empty everything that ruins our lives and ask God to fill us with His Holy Spirit.
