Interview with Prashant Bisunkey
INTRODUCTION

1) DIPEN- Which was your first song and when had you written it?
PRASHANT- While I was in worship school back in 2012 at Pedong, ‘TIMRO MUHAR MALAI DEKHAW’ was the first song that I had composed.
2) DIPEN- What had inspired you to write songs?
PRASHANT- At first I was unknown to songwriting and music, but in Worship School the teaching of songwriting had a huge impact on my life while they were mentioning about the people in the Holy Bible who worshiped God through their songwriting and their songs it was at that moment I began to understand my purpose and I realized that the God Almighty was sowing a seed of songwriting in my life, and what I personally believe is that songwriting is just a medium of pouring ones heart out in front of Christ in order to glorify Our living God so these are the things that inspired me to write songs.
3) DIPEN- What would you classify yourself as Singer or what?
PRASHANT- I get a lot of admiration for my voice and many of them recognize me as a singer but according to me I do not look at myself as a Singer but as a true Worshiper of GOD.
4) DIPEN- How do you cope with your passion and your work?
PRASHANT- As mentioned above I have been working as a teacher and as a teacher there are lots of responsibilities so sometimes it’s even hard to spare a time for myself but even though with my busy schedule I have kept my passion still i.e. Worship. So whenever I get free time I usually spend it with my Father in Heaven.
5) DIPEN- Do you have a mentor or do you mentor anyone else?
PRASHANT- ‘YES’ I do have a mentor and with no doubt CHRIST he himself is my first mentor all because ‘THE WORD OF GOD’ inspired me and through him I was able to write songs, by the Grace of God I’ve been able to release my 2 singles and all the music arrangements for the songs has been done by brother Pranay Khaling, as he has been helping me in many things, I have taken him as a mentor as well.
6) DIPEN- Why is it important to have mentor in our life?
PRASHANT- Why is it necessary to have a mentor in our life is mainly because, since from our childhood to being adult we have been mentored by our parents or it can be anyone, without a mentor we could not judge ourselves as we would find ourselves right in everything we did, but having a mentor we can always be in check or in other words we can have a progress report of what we are doing.
7) DIPEN- What is your definition of worship?
PRASHANT- Worship is a life style, it means that we can worship god even while doing the household chores. Nowadays we are failing to spare a time for God maybe because of our busy schedule or maybe because of the desires of our heart as there are so many things in the world that we may find tempting and beautiful, and we are running behind the creation instead of the Creator. Thus praising God with all the things we have in our life is the actual definition of Worship for me.
8) DIPEN- Describe what worship looks like and why it is more than music?
PRASHANT- Bible says; “God is the spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the spirit and in truth.” We all have different sides of ourselves, we definitely have two voices to hear, one can be for a good and another can be for bad, in this process of hearing voices it does really matter what you hear thus following wrong voice you will be worshipping wrong, it is very important to hear the right voice when you are all alone. And I think that Devil doesn’t speak in crowds or groups, but in times when you are all alone. And what have I learned from this is that our actual battle begins when we are all alone, and our worship can be defined by what we are hearing. So thus what have I decided is that when I will be alone, I will listen to the voice of the Lord. Yes, as a worshipper music is important but not more than the Presence of our Lord. There are lot of examples in the bible that worship can be done without music also. Many a times we hear complaints of not feeling the Presence of God when there’s no instruments in the church, we have prioritized Music more than the Presence of the Lord. And I feel that as worshipper we should prioritize the Presence of the Lord more and all the things should fall into secondary.
9) DIPEN- What are your weaknesses and how do you deal with it?
PRASHANT- The weakest point in my life is Anger. And because of that I have faced the consequences many times. I’ve got annoyed when I was instructed to perform pre schedule in church, those were the times I’ve faced downfall. But in the end realizing that I was wrong and by the Grace of God now I’ve controlled my Anger.
10)DIPEN- Was there any moment when you felt like fame is more important than anything else? Or have you sung any songs for popularity?
PRASHANT- ‘YES’ there were times when I felt that Fame is important. And I had participated in competitions as well.
11)DIPEN- Tell me about your testimony in brief. How did you come to faith in Christ?
PRASHANT- I'm a born Christian and I've been following all the Christian rituals, what we think a Christian should do. But when did I truly accepted and known Christ is, from a brother who used to be a thug, and when I came to know that he has transformed completely, I was so much amazed and surprised that he really had changed all because of our God, from the time onwards I've truly surrendered myself to Christ.
12)DIPEN-Short message for our audience.
PRASHANT- In the end I would like say that I am a learner too, in the same journey with Christ. We all are youths we surely fall in sort of temptation, but God will surely help us out if we have the courage to hold his hand. In this time of pandemic, it is the right time to spend your time with God. I would like to encourage all of you, those who are writing, doing anything for Christ, do it, do it more for the glory of God. God bless you all!
