Following Christ can be a real challenge
Following Christ can be a real challenge for many. We are very sure of receiving the reward but in many cases it is not without persecution and suffering. The greatest challenge to becoming a follower of Christ is when people are forced to choose between God and their loved ones, between God and their society, between God and their friends, and between suffering and death in Christ and the good and prosperous life in this world. The decisions of Christ's disciples make in such adverse circumstances can certainly reject them from their family members, friends, and society, but as Christ promised in the Scripture - do not despair or fear because He is with us, and He will not leave nor forsake us. And soon he will discover a new family - called the Church of Christ. At church, we will receive new spiritual family members and friends as a reward.
In John 15, Jesus is depicted as the Vine and we as a branches. Although the branches are different, the vine is the same. It is beautiful that we identify ourselves as disciples of Jesus Christ. And we, as the branches, in different colour, culture and country, we all cling in a same vine. There is a deeper form of love and intimacy between committed Christians that is better than any other relationship you ever have in the world.
