What is sacrifice?

What is sacrifice?

Hebrews 13:15 (KJV)
Therefore, by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

What is sacrifice?.
*Sacrifice is giving something that you value the most, for instance: you sacrifice some of your time to help others, you sacrifice your happiness in order to see others happy.

In a Biblical context from the Old Testament, sacrifice was thought as giving an offering to God. There were many laws concerning the giving of sacrifices to God. There were the sin offerings, burnt offerings, peace offerings and so on. The sacrifices could be an animal or a dove, or there were meal offerings as well.

But there are certain things that God considered more important than these sacrificial things.

What then were the things that God considered more important than the sacrifice of an animal?
*It was an obedient and a merciful heart, a broken spirit and a contrite heart. A heart that loved God with all it's  understanding.
But why did Paul called the praise as a sacrifice?
Praise is often spontaneous. The fact that it is called the sacrifice of praise may indicate that you may not feel like praising Him in all your situations or circumstances.
Yes, God has just done so many marvelous things for us, that  the praise rises spontaneously from our hearts. Sometimes our circumstances are not conducive to praise. This is when praise is a sacrifice. Praise at this point is an exercise of faith.  In such situation continue to Praise God in faith knowing what the Bible tells us that- all things work together for the good to those who love God and are called according to His purposes. We are told to give thanks in everything for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.
How often do you just stop and praise the Lord for His goodness, and His mercy?

Tell God today that, Lord, no matter what circumstances may arise, I will praise you with all of my heart and let my praise rise as an offering to You.
