The first picture that comes in our mind when we imagine of Christmas Day..
The first picture that comes in our mind when we imagine of Christmas Day is obviously a Christmas tree. But what does it mean in terms of Christian doctrine? Although there is no direct reference to an evergreen tree in the account of Christ's birth, but believers gave the pagan symbol a holy meaning.
An evergreen tree is one that stays green all year. Even in the season of winter, the evergreen tree is alive and well. This quality of eternal life refers to the life we have in Christ (John 3:16).
Shape of a tree
The Christmas tree's shape is triangular which is basically used to refer to the Holy Trinity (Matthew 28:18–19). The upward-pointing branches frequently signify our praise to God.
Christmas gifts under the tree
The gifts underneath the tree signify the gifts brought to Jesus by the wise men (Matthew 2:11). Some people see the gifts as symbolic of our salvation through Jesus (Romans 3:21–22).
