Stop for a moment and help each other
The bible story of the good Samaritan is an amazing and a wonderful story which always teaches us regarding compassion.
As a man struggled on the side of the road, for having been injured and robbed, Robbers stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. The priest saw the man but he walked away from the other side, even levite also saw that man but he also walked away from the other side. many people passed him by, as some were too busy to stop for a moment and help. Others just didn’t care. But when a Samaritan who was traveling that way saw the injured man, as filled with compassion, he poured out some wine and oil on the wound of the injured man and bandaged them.
The good Samaritan took him on his own donkey towards a nearby inn and paid the innkeeper 2 silver coins so that he could take a good care of that injured man. He said to the innkeeper, he would reimburse him for any extra expenses that innkeeper may have expensed, when he returned back this way.
In fact, In the eyes of Jews Samaritans were untouchable and scum. Even though Samaritans were untouchables, here we can see that Samaritan had a greater love for God and neighbours than the Jews might have and also more than the temple priest and a lawyer.
The priest, the lawyer and other people were busy with their own stuffs. But they were forgetting to love their neighbours.
As a matter of fact, Samaritan was an enemy of that Injured traveller, although he put himself in a great danger by helping him, he knew it very well that the consequence of helping would have been accused of robbing and injuring him. but He never stepped back to help the injured man, even though they counted Samaritan as their enemy. He opened up his wallet to help the injured man by taking the risk. Similarly we have to open up our heart to help ones who are indeed in need of help.
Lessons: Sometimes life is busy and we all have things we ought to do, but when we see someone in need – even a stranger – even our enemy, the right thing to do is to stop and help the ones who are indeed in need of our help. No matter how busy and tight schedules we have. Never ever step back in the times of helping others.
