Bricks of Pride
Genesis- 11
The years after the Flood, when Noah and his family lived and had many children, they began to move from one place to another. When they reached the Shinar they found plain out there and they decided to settle there and build a tower so big that it would reach up to heaven. Their hearts were proud, and they thought that they could reach the same height as the Most High God is in. They were using bricks of pride for building up the tower to be in the same level comparably with God.This pride was their downfall. When God came down and saw what the people were doing, he was very angry so, he decided to stop their construction, He came down and made people to speak different languages so that no one could understand each other and continue their construction. God made sure that if all the people out there would speak the same language then they would certainly begin to build the tower. So, He created confusion between them and their languages so that the neighbor could not understand each other. When the person tried to communicate, it turned into a full of blur and confused sound. Soon, everyone who spoke the same language began to speak queer languages and left the city, In this way they spread themselves around the world with different languages. For this reason the tower is called the "Tower of Babel".
The origin of the word "Babel”, Babel was the Hebrew name for Babylon which portends "gate of God". But the Hebrew word is similar to Balal which means confusion.
Moral- The pride ultimately leads to fall. Building the Bricks of Pride of the people out there led to confusion, destruction, despair and fall. Like Satan, they were expelled because they wanted to be like God. We must humble ourselves before the Lord.
John 3:30
We must decrease and He must increase.
